Most people, when faced with the thought of \u2018change\u2019<\/strong> react with feelings of self-doubt and anxiety. However, this is more about feeling overwhelmed about the process of change versus a desire to change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Different Meanings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a common misperception that the words \u2018transformation\u2019 and \u2018change\u2019 are synonymous. In my opinion, there is a clear distinction between the two acts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Change<\/strong> implies an immediate step<\/em><\/strong> where one moment you\u2019re X and another you\u2019re Y.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Transformation<\/strong> implies an evolutionary process<\/em><\/strong> where adapting to small changes is gradual.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    I would like to tackle the two words and shed light on how this process can become a reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When we consider the word transformation,<\/strong> it presents us with a far easier way to begin shifting by allowing us time to walk along the journey of change at our own pace. This is potentially why transformation is commonly tied to the word \u2018process\u2019: a process of transformation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Begin the journey<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    1. To become willing to change<\/strong>: It\u2019s easy to say, \u2018I want to get out of this rut and change my life\u2019 but putting in the action (small stepped changes) requires a dedicated shift in mindset. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Patience and care<\/strong>: become willing to learn along the journey and not rush the process. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Hold back on self-judgement<\/strong>: acknowledge and accept that challenges will be faced along this journey, and that\u2019s ok, as it\u2019s part of the process of transformation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. One day at a time<\/strong>: Transformation is a process of consistent daily steps. Embrace each day as a new opportunity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      As human becoming\u2019s* we will find ourselves challenged by situations in life which require us to change either our situations or the way in which we navigate through them in order to begin the process of transformation. A challenge that many of the people I mentor often face, is \u2018getting lost in the story\u2019 of the obstacles that face them and losing sight of the fact that the process of transformational change is one of small incremental steps. Transformation is not a destination; it is a continuous process of learning about ourselves; keeping this gentle understanding in mind will assist with anxiety along your journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
